ACA is the official advisory committee for OCDSB trustees on issues regarding the arts. We actively work with trustees to ensure that the arts are delivered to all students, in all schools.
We are a volunteer committee consisting of anyone interested in the arts in the public educational system. Voting membership consists of parents, students, former educators, and individuals from arts organizations. We work closely with OCDSB staff and they form an important component of the committee in helping us understand what is going on in schools.
We are looking for new members for the committee, both parent-voting and staff, and would welcome someone from your school community, or anyone else you think might be interested in attending.
ACA has been successful in getting extra funding for teacher training in the arts for elementary teachers, and for recognizing excellence in teaching of the arts, specifically, the Arts Recognition Awards. You can look at our minutes and agendas to see the kind of work/discussions we do.
Our meetings are open to the public and are held the last Monday of every month in the Staff Room at Fisher Park School, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm (homemade treats provided).
